Income Tax Preparer Arrested Second Time for Fraud

A Summerton man is being held in Clarendon County today after South Carolina Department of Revenue  investigators charged him with fraud for the second time in six years.
 
Dwayne Curtis Doughty, 41, is being held pending a bond hearing after being charged with two counts  of willful preparation of a false income tax returns for tax years 2004 and 2005. He was previously convicted of the same offense on May 11, 2004 and was prohibited from either preparing or assisting in the preparation of income tax returns. 
 
Because of Doughty’s prior conviction, he is facing two felony charges and upon conviction, must be fined twenty thousand dollars and imprisoned for at least 10 years without probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
