York County man arrested on tax charges

A York County man was arrested today by Department of Revenue investigators and charged with Failing to File his Income Tax returns and with Obtaining Goods under False Pretenses.

Malcolm A. Crosby, of 1160 Constitution Park Boulevard in Rock Hill, is being held at the York County Detention Facility pending a bond hearing.  Crosby was charged with failing to file his state income tax returns for six (6) years.  The investigation revealed Crosby earned more than $235,000 and failed to pay over $6,000 in state taxes for the years 2004 through 2009.

In addition, the investigation determined that Crosby, while preparing income tax returns for others, defrauded two (2) clients of their refunds which totaled over $5,000.  Crosby had the refunds deposited into his personal accounts and converting the funds to his own personal use.

If convicted, Crosby is facing up to sixteen (16) years in prison and up to $60,000 in fines.

The Rock Hill City Police Department and the York County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.
