Berkeley County…A North Charleston man is in jail following his arrest today on tax evasion charges.

Fennell Alexander is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center in North Charleston pending a bond hearing. He is charged with five counts of state income tax evasion.

Alexander, 42, is accused of intentionally failing to file state income tax returns from 2003 – 2007, and report income of $250,647.36 during that period. The Department of Revenue estimates Alexander’s tax liability at $12,685.50 for the years he failed to file.

Alexander is facing up to 25 years in prison and fines of up to $50,000 if convicted of the charges.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department assisted in Alexander’s arrest.
