FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11 April 2008
DOR will hold annual tax forms drive-thru on April 15
Procrastinating taxpayers who find themselves up against the April 15 income tax filing deadline can once again expect some help from South Carolina Department of Revenue employees who will host the annual Drive-thru Forms Services at DOR headquarters in Columbia on Tuesday.
Revenue department employees will provide drive-up service in front of the headquarters building from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on April 15. All state tax forms and many federal forms, including extensions, will be available. Taxpayers can drop off their completed state tax returns at the drive-thru. (Federal forms must be mailed.)
DOR headquarters is located in the same building as the State Museum at 301 Gervais Street, near the Gervais Street Bridge. Employees will be handing out forms on the road directly in front of the building entrance and it is not necessary to park your car for assistance.
While the tax deadline is April 15, South Carolina taxpayers have until May 1 to file their state tax return – even if they owe – if they file electronically. This filing extension applies only to electronically-filed state returns. The federal filing deadline is April 15.
